What is the benefit of living on campus?
National research continues to show that students who live on campus for at least the first year of their collegiate career transition more easily to campus life, are retained at higher rates than students who live off-campus, graduate faster, are more involved in campus activities, and are more connected to the college and local community. However, all CSI students in good standing who wish to reside in CSI Student Housing, may apply on a first come, first serve basis.

How will Financial Aid know to review my award to consider my residence hall charges?
Be sure to follow up early with the Financial Aid office to confirm no items are pending on your account. After you submit your CSI Student Housing application, application fee, and security deposit, and your awarded aid is not sufficient to cover your expenses, visit your financial aid counselor and request to review your aid. If you already have a student loan for the academic year, ask if an increase is possible. If you do not already have a loan, and want one, discuss your eligibility with your financial aid counselor.
I have a scholarship to CSI, does that cover the cost of student housing?
Macaulay Honors College Students and other students with academic scholarships are permitted to apply for student housing. At this time your scholarship does not cover housing costs. However, you may be eligible for financial assistance and should contact the Office of Financial Aid at 718-982-2030.
If my financial aid is not definite by the time my residence hall bill is due, what can I do? What happens if my financial aid is reduced or cancelled?
In accordance with College policies, the License Agreement you sign indicates you understand you are responsible for the charges incurred and for paying on time. This is regardless of your Financial Aid awards or status.
What else should I consider in applying for student loans to cover my residence hall bill?
Consider loans only if you really need them because they will need to be repaid. Also, be aware you may not know whether or not you have sufficient financial aid until after you make your room reservation. Many students are not eligible to receive the program maximum in loans, so you should not rely on those totals in your decision making.
Will the cost of my residence hall contract be covered by financial aid?
Financial aid is determined on an individual basis, based on need. For more information, contact your Financial Aid counselor at 718-982-2030.
