Austin, Texas – [December 16, 2024] – American Campus Communities (ACC), the nation’s largest student housing company, announces that Chief Financial Officer Kim Voss will transition out of the organization after a distinguished 20+ year career. ACC’s Executive Vice President of Asset Management, Dan Crownover, has been promoted to CFO, effective January 1, 2025.

ACC is committed to promoting from within and cultivating leaders who deeply understand the company’s resident-focused culture and strategic vision. This transition supports ACC’s ability to provide exceptional student experiences and meet the continued demand for both on-campus and off-campus purpose-built student housing. As incoming CFO, Crownover will oversee financial management, strategic planning, and investment returns to drive the company’s business strategy and growth.

“After over 20 years with ACC, I am incredibly proud of everything we’ve achieved together,” said Voss. “It has been an honor to contribute to the company’s success and growth, and now is the right time for me to begin my next chapter. I will forever be grateful for the teamwork, collaboration, and shared experiences that have defined my journey with this great company. I will always be a passionate supporter of ACC as it continues to serve students in such a meaningful way.”

Voss’s leadership and strategic vision have been key to the company's success. She has earned national and local awards and accolades, including 2024 GlobeSt Woman of Influence, Austin Business Journal 2024 CFO of the Year finalist, CNBC CFO Council member and The University of Texas McCombs School of Business Dean’s Advisory Council member.

“Kim is a true champion of excellence, integrity and leadership. Her remarkable tenure at ACC has helped shape the company into the industry leader it is today,” Rob Palleschi, CEO of American Campus Communities. “We are excited to promote from within, tapping Dan for the CFO role. His history with the company, deep expertise in finance and asset management, and his track record of driving successful transactions and investments will ensure ACC remains the first choice for students, parents, university partners, and team members.”

Crownover started his real estate career with ACC as an intern in graduate school at Texas A&M University. He went on to roles in real estate investment banking and private equity. He rejoined ACC in 2012 and led numerous high-impact transactions, including serving as a key figure for ACC during the 2022 take-private acquisition and forming three institutional joint ventures. Crownover’s multi-faceted student housing experience has been pivotal in the company’s success.

"It is an honor to be chosen to take my expertise and experience with ACC to the next level," said Crownover. "I am ready to dive in to focus on driving new initiatives and exploring new opportunities that position ACC for continued success in the evolving student housing market."

The company remains focused on its growth pipeline both on and off campus. It is currently developing five new public-private partnership (P3) projects with universities totaling nearly 6,000 beds and $1 billion in value while actively pursuing new off-campus development and acquisition opportunities in Tier 1 university markets. Since its founding more than 30 years ago, ACC has developed nearly 160 student housing communities on and off campus, serving over 115,000 students nationwide.
